Julie calls her work – Liminessence Art – A made up word derived from ‘essence of the liminal’
It is no secret that Julie is slightly obsessed with all the blues and greens of the colour spectrum. She is however experimenting with, honey, gold, amber, cerise, magenta and rose. With all seriousness, Julie has been heavily influenced by her move from the Central West of NSW to beautiful Jervis Bay on the South Coast.
“To not witness the beauty of the seascape for extended periods – engenders a deep sense of wonder and awe, when you do – So deep, that it takes your breath away, and everything else on your mind – just for a moment. I call my work, “liminessence art“, A made up word, meaning essence of the liminal. I have named my Instagram as such: @liminessence_art.
Those liminal times and places are the ones which hold you STILL – which take you away – which make you forget – or remember. The colour Blue somehow, really does bring inner peace, when encapsulated in a beautiful flowing sea or landscape. When I paint one of those, I genuinely feel honoured to participate in bringing that emotion into someone’s consciousness. Who doesn’t enjoy a feeling of Calm, Contentment and Wellbeing? “
Julie also draws with pencils and pastels, particularly during her outdoor excursions with Jervis Bay and Shoalhaven Plein Air groups, as well as Orange Sketchers, with whom she meets with on occasion. Julie is also turning her attention to recreating liminal moments of the vast central west landscapes, using similar techniques as those of her seascapes.
Julie is a member of the Shoalhaven Art Society. She thanks her wonderful circle of like minded artists for the camaraderie and friendship, which ultimately affects her painting practice – And her wonderful collectors who bring her delight and proliferation.
